A description in (a few) words and (many) pictures

Wednesday, June 6, 2007: Today we are joined by the Swedish labyrinth researchers John Kraft,  Anita and Bo Stjernström to travel together to the small island Landsort. There is a labyrinth, on top of which the military built a barrack. The labyrinth was recorded and reconstructed in 1977 by John, Bo and Anita. Axel Öberg, the master pilot of the island, was very dedicated to the labyrinth, his son Björn is now the guardian of the labyrinth.
Sweden has a long tradition to protect and to care for the historic vestiges. It is surely due to this that we still have so much and so old labyrinths in Sweden.

The Landsort labyrinth is very interesting. It has an open cross. Therefore one has the choice  either to turn first to the right side or to the left. Through that it can be used as a competition labyrinth. Two are starting and the one reaching the goal first is the winner. This way to run a labyrinth was known in Scandinavian countries and obviously appreciated. The labyrinth is also a game.
